Wip for this Wednesday!

Holden Shawlette

Christmas Stocking for grandson

I am knitting like crazy on Holden.  He is #12 of 12 Shawls in 2012!   I think I can make it!  The idea is that you start and finish 12 shawls during the year.  It was 11 in 2011 and 10 in 2010.  Although I had joined the group, I didn't count my shawls until this year.  Part of my problem is I have several UFO's that were started before January 1st and couldn't count them for the year that I completed them.  Whew.  I do have another shawl on the needles, but that is now 2 years in the works.  So after Holden is finished I will go back and complete it.  It is a Pi shawl.  I was having trouble with the last section and wanted to restart from the last increase. So I have about 2 rounds to tink.  So isn't that a wonderful reason to set it aside for 2 years?

I got the Christmas stocking done!  Now to get it into the mail.   We had a huge snowstorm yesterday and it will take me a bit to dig out  so that I can make a PO run.

This is my WIP Wednesday post.  Also my Yarn Along and KCCO at Frontier Dreams.

#11 finished shawl in 2012

I finished my New Moon Shawl!   It is blocking today.  I really liked this yarn, so soft to work with.  So I have something for FO Fridays at Tami's blog this week. And also for Fiber Arts Friday.

I was able to get quite a bit done on the Christmas stocking for the new grandson.  Hopefully I will be able to finish it tonight with a Netflix movie.

12-12-12 Yarny Days are here again!

Too Cute!

Casting on Christmas Stocking

Cast off last night, still needs blocked.
I had gone over to my friend's house this am and she had the cutest mitten bunting hanging over the fireplace!  I just loved it!  I might have to try that with some of my leftover yarns.

I finished my New Moon shawl last night.  It has an I cord bind off.  I thought that with the 200+ stitches it would take a long time, but it went rather quickly.  Hopefully I can get it blocked tomorrow.  It is my 11th shawl this year!  I think that I can make the 12 shawls in 2012!

Next up is the Christmas stocking for the new grandson.  I found the white yarn that I used for Mom and brother's stockings. I think I can get it knit up rather quickly, I seem to remember the others were quick knits.

I realized that I still haven't even looked at my Sunset for December.  I love this magazine!  Lots of good photographs and ideas.

Work in Progress

I cast on my 11th shawl for the year!  I am hoping to make the 12 in 2012 club!  They have to be started and finished during 2012.  My ravelry project page is here.  I still need to get Saroyan blocked.  That is on the schedule for today.

The other project that needs to finish up is a Christmas stocking for the new grandson.  I made Mama and big Brother one using this pattern, Daddy has a crocheted one I made for him when he was just a little guy.  I found the pattern but haven't found the white yarn for the trim.  I am pretty sure that I did not use it up on the other 2 stockings.

I am still plugging away at the same book as last week.  It is an ok book, but not one that I can't put down and read straight through.

This is my WIP Wednesday post.  Also check out Frontier Dreams and Yarn Along for some fun ideas.

Shawls are blocking

Today is blocking day!  I ran out of time the other day.  I still have one more that I want to block, but the beds are full.  So maybe tomorrow for that guy.  I finished knitting my After Hours last night.  It was a close call, I have maybe a yard of yarn left.  I also have my Boneyard blocking.  I was undecided about whether to block it or not.  I did not stretch it, just smoothed it out while wet and put a few pins in to control the garter curl on the edge.

This is my FO Friday post as well as my Fiber Art Friday.

Block-a-thon

Saroyan

Boneyard

After Hours
I finished knitting my Saroyan!  Now to get it blocked, which is on my agenda for today.  I will also try to get my Boneyard blocked, it has been "finished" for a while. The photo is bad, it is more blue than grey. And that brings me back to After Hours, I was able to get more than half of the border knit last night.  Hopefully it will get done in the next day or so.

I live in a very small town.  We do have a library, but sometimes it feels like I have read everything there.  A couple of years ago I found out about Paperback swap.  It is an online club where the members trade books. You pay for the postage to mail a book to someone and they pay the postage to mail to you.  It works on credits.  I get credits for mailing books and then I can choose from available books or get on the wait list for unavailable books to use my credits.  It has worked out well for me.  I am reading Charlotte Street right now and I obtained the book from the Paperback swap.

On the downhill side

I have been knitting up a storm on my Saroyan!  It is my TV knitting in the evenings.  I have the main section done, but I think that I will add one more repeat and then it is time for the decrease section!

What is On the Needles at my house

I am making good progress on my Saroyan.  I love blue and so this is really appealing to me.  I really would like to get it finished soon so that it can go into the mail to my daughter who lives in England in time for her December birthday.

This is my on the Needles post for this week, check out what everyone else is up to at Judy's blog.

Good Time Mitts

I recently joined a Ravelry group for Knit my Mitts.  Melissa of Spicy Homemaker started the group to do a knit along for her Good Time Mitts Pattern.  It was a fun pattern to knit. Check out her blog to see all the other knitters that finished this week.

I tried to get a  better photograph to show the color better.  Not working for me today.  The bottom photo is closer to the real color.  My project page.

This is my FO Friday post for this week.  And my Fiber Arts Friday post.

WIP Wednesday --- Shawl-o-rama

Saroyan

After Hours

My WIP Wednesday is devoted to a couple of shawls.  I have been working on the After Hours shawl for a while.  It was set aside while I was working on dish cloths for Holiday gifts and while working on some fingerless mitts.  This morning I went back to the shawl.  I am on the border and am using some beads.

I had started the Saroyan a couple of years ago and had failure.  So I frogged and decided it was time to try again.  I have the first leaf finished.  I think that I will enjoy the knitting this time.

Check out what everyone else has in progress at Tami's blog. And also on Frontier Dreams. And a fun  group on Yarn Along.

On the Needles

I am knitting some finger-less mitts for my Dad.  I found this nice pattern on Ravelry that I think will be good for a man.  Here is the link to my project page.  I am still knitting dish cloths like crazy, but I found a shoebox that had about 8 more in there.  So I am farther ahead than I thought.

This is my On the Needles post for the week, check out what everyone else is working on at Patchwork TImes.

WIP Wednesday

Vine Lace Shawl

Custom Spin
Close up.

I went over to Karen's house this morning for coffee and knitting. I brought along my Vine Lace Cardigan to see about some wood buttons for it.  We got some blanks picked out and then I realized that I was not happy with the way that the sweater is working up, so we unraveled it. Karen helped me, we wound balls and I will restart it yet again.  Third time's the charm.  One hopes. So that is my WIP Wednesday post. Go to Tami's and see what everyone else is working on.

I love to go to Karen's house.  She has wonderful things arranged all through her restored Pioneer home.  She had just finished spinning a custom spin for a customer and it was drying in front of the wood stove.  I love the colors, it reminds me of Andes mints.  Check out her Esty shop, she has beautiful handspun yarns.

On the Needles

Socks that have been on the needles for about a year.

The old favorite dish cloth.

I need a bunch of these for neighbor gifts.

After Hours shawl.
It seems like the only thing I have been knitting the last couple of weeks are dishcloths.  Most of our little neighborhood give little gifts to everyone and I have been doing dishcloths the last 2 years.  This year I am trying to get ahead of the game and not be having to crank out a dozen of these in mid December. So that is what I have for  FO Fridays!

I really want to finish the socks for Sweetie, but I have forgotten exactly where I left off.  So I will need to take some quiet time to figure it out.

After Hours is very close to being finished.  I just need to knit the border which will have a few beads.

This is my On The Needles post for this week, check out what everyone else is working on at Patchwork Times.

Frankenscarf and other random thoughts

I joined a group on Ravelry that is doing a Frankenscarf round robin. One gal had started a scarf and decided she wasn't happy with the project.  So she ended off the yarn and sent it to someone else.  She used whatever yarn and pattern she wanted to and then sent it to me.  I used the stitch pattern from the Sagebrush shrug.  It is on my list to make soon for my daughter.  So even though it isn't a whole FO, my part of the scarf is finished! So this is my FO of the week. Check out everyone else's finishes at Tami's blog.

I found another great blog party at Fiber Arts Friday!  Check it out!

We went to Moab last weekend and had a great time.  Peaty and Eddy love hiking in the desert!

Our neighbor put up one of those inflatable decorations.  I am not usually a fan, but this one made me smile!  It reminds me of when my son was young and how he and his friends always loved to play being Ghostbusters!

Shawl for Sister

I finished a shawl for my sister's birthday.  The pattern is Barbara, and I chose this because that is her name. I am happy with the result.  I used an alpaca lace yarn.  My project file is here on Ravelry.  I took her to Snowbird for a weekend getaway, so the last photo is us at the top.

My FO Friday post for this week.  Check out what everyone else is doing at Tami's blog.

Snowbird resort.

The fall colors were spectacular!

Lovely sunset.

I took my sister to Snowbird for a birthday treat.  Lovely weather. The fall colors were just perfect.  We were able to do some hiking and playing on the rides.  Oktoberfest was still going on, lots of beer everywhere.  And food!  A good time was had by all.
