Still plugging along on Mandala

It always looks like a wadded up mess before it is blocked.
I am making good progress on Mandala!  I am up to row 74 out of 96.  576 stitches each round.  I am really enjoying this knit!

I am really close to being finished with the Sue Grafton book.  Up next is The Cookbook Collector.

This is my WIP Wednesday, KCCO , and Yarn along  post.  Check out what everyone else is up to using the links.

Treasures

Saturday we went down to visit my Dad.  I gave him a quilt for his birthday.  He had some bags of stuff he was getting rid of.  I had put them in the car.  Mostly textiles, sheets, old pillow covers, etc.  When we got home I set one of the bags down on the table and it clunked.  I found this leaf bowl in the bottom of the bag. I had made it when I was a child, probably about 2nd or 3rd grade.  I can remember making this.  We had a flattened piece of clay and took a large leaf and pressed it into the clay.  Then trimmed around the leaf.  Then we wadded up dampened paper towels to curve the the shape until it dried.  I don't remember doing the glazing and the firing.  I remember that my brother had also made one, his was green.  What a treasure to find in the bag!

Another Wednesday

I am still knitting away on the Mandala shawl!  It has been fun to watch the lace evolve. I am up to row 59.
Last week I made a bearded hat for my uncle, and he loved it!  I didn't get a photograph of the finished hat.

I am reading "Kinsey and Me" by Sue Grafton.  I have enjoyed reading the alphabet books over the years.  This is a collection of short stories based on the Kinsey Millhone character.

This is my WIP Wednesday and my Yarn Along post for the week.  Also check out KCCO.  And What's on your Needles.

WIP Wednesday

I have gotten a lot done on my Mandala shawl.  I am up to row 47 out of 96.  Each round is 576 stitches.  It has been a very enjoyable knit since I picked it back up again.

I had a request from my cousin to make a Beard Beanie for her Dad who is going through Chemo.  Of all things, he is worried about losing his beard. It is a crochet pattern.  I haven't done much crochet lately, the the FBdc caught me off guard.  It didn't look right.  I will mess with it more tonight.

For my reading this week Notorious Nineteen showed up at the library.  I love the Stephanie Plum series.  But I do feel that it is losing its fun.  And the books have shrunk considerably.  Double spaced with a larger font and wide margins.  Like that fools anyone.  They are an easy read.  Too bad the movie was extremely miscast.

This is my WIP Wednesday post.  Also Check out KCCO and Yarn along.

Knitting in the Desert

Holden Shawl

Turn a Square hat
Cozy Mitts

Mandela Shawl

We went on a trip to Arizona with the trailer for 2 weeks.  I got a lot of knitting done on the trip!  I finished up my Holden Shawl.  I knit a Turn a Square hat for sweetie.  I made some Cozy Mitts for me.  The colors matched the scenery where we were camped that night.  And I got back to my long hibernating Mandela Shawl.  I am really knitting like crazy on Mandela!  I am excited about it again.  Isn't it funny how sometimes things have to sit in the corner for a while? Like 2 years!

This is my WIP Weds post.  I am also going to link to Frontier Dreams and Yarn along.  Check out what everyone else is up to this week!
