Blocked Again!

I got 2 shawls blocked this week.   First off is Holden.  I knit this on our Arizona trip.  Then there is Mandala, it has been in progress for 3 years!  It was out of the rotation for 2 of those years.  But just after the new year I made an effort to finish knitting this Pi shawl. I love it!

This is my FO Friday and Fiber Arts Friday post.

Shrug is Blocking

Shrug blocking
Spring mystery clue # 2 finished!
Close up

I am so excited to work on a mystery shawl!  It has been a while since I have participated in a Mystery KAL.  The Spring Mystery Shawl 2013 is looking great so far!  I am all caught up, but that is easy to do for the first couple of clues!

I had started a shrug for my daughter's birthday.  (Which was two weeks ago!) I kind of took a break because the main body of the shrug has to be blocked before you add the ribbing on the sleeves and then the main section.  I finally have it blocking this morning.  Hopefully the ribbing will go quickly and I can get it in the mail soon.

I am plugging away at Shipwreck in between the other projects.  I am not bored with it.  I knit while watching TV, so I like projects that don't take a lot of thinking.

This is my WIP Wednesday, KCCO and yarn along post for the week!  Check out what everyone else is doing by clicking the links.

Section 7!

I am flying on the Shipwreck Shawl!  Started the netting a couple of days ago.  I decided not to string all the beads first.  I am using the crochet hook method to add them to the shawl.  Note to self, don't brush the dog right before working on the shawl.

I am still reading The Casual Vacancy.  It is a large book.

Another WIP Wednesday!

Circle start on #3's
Switched over to #4's
Made it to the circs!
Closeup of Sagebrush

My good friend Anne Munoz's daughter is trying to raise funds for a volunteer nursing trip to the Soloman Islands in May.  I have personally  known this young woman since she was 7 years old and I can honestly say she is a dedicated nurse trying to make a difference in the world. Anne has donated one of her art quilts to be given away to one of those donating funds for this humanitarian project.  Please consider making a donation.  Thanks.

I have the main section on my Sagebrush Shrug knit.  It needs to be blocked before knitting the ribbing.  Fun, fast to memorize pattern!

I cast on my Shipwreck shawl this am.  I have been wanting to knit this since the pattern first showed up on Knitty 4 years ago. I had such good luck with the circle cast on, the first try worked!  I used one size smaller dpns since I only have metal #4's.  The wooden needles help hold the stitches.  When I have tried to cast on a circle in another project using metal needles I had the stitches falling off all over the place.  My #4 dpns are vintage ones from my mother's collection.  I just love the old packaging!

I am still reading "The Casual Vacancy".  It is written for the adult audience, adult language and situations.  So far I am liking the storyline.
