Where did the summer go Wednesday?

I love the simple detail in this pattern!

I am knitting like crazy on the sweater for my daughter.  It is not going to be finished before she heads home. I really like the simple design of the cables that run up the front of the sweater. It looks so good in this alpaca heathered yarn.

I found this recipe magazine at the grocery store.  50 ways to cook corn!  Including Bacon-wrapped corn! Everything is better with bacon!

This is my WIP Wednesday, KCCO and my Yarn Along post for the week!

A fun new Craftsy class with Kerry Dunn on self portraits! Also new this week is Designer Foundant Textures with Marina Sousa!

On the Needles

Sweater is coming along!

Morning walk

On the needles this week is the sweater for my daughter.  It is coming along nicely.  I like the lacy accent at the front. La Belle is a Drops design, the first time I have knit one of their patterns.  It was a bit tricky to figure out, but I have a handle on it now.  I do wish that they would put the stitch legend on the same page as the chart.

This in my On the Needles post for today.

Craftsy is having a supply sale though July 28th!  Select yarn and fabrics are an additional 20% off!  Worth checking out.

Happy Pie and Beer Day!

A new beginning!

Pie and Beer Day is a pun on Pioneer Day.  Pioneer Day is the official state Holiday for Utah.  They celebrate the day the Mormon pioneers first arrived in the Salt Lake Valley in 1847.

My daughter gave me a pass on the Vine Lace Cardigan and selected a new pattern for her sweater.  We found La Belle and it will be a much easier knit. I have the garter stitch hem finished and am chugging along on the simple stockinette.  It is a bit tricky to watch for where the design is to start and also keep track of making buttonholes.  But I like that it is knit in one piece up to the armholes.

I am going to start the second in a mystery series based in Memphis featuring a BBQ restaurant.  They include recipes, yum!  I made my first batch of bread using the book I talked about last week.  It was delicious!  Worked out just the way the book described.  I am looking forward to the next batch and also to trying out some of the other recipes.

This is my WIP Wednesday, KCCO and Yarn Along post for this week.

Also check out the brand new today knitting class on Craftsy!  It is taught by Romi Hill and it is about lace knitting!  One of my favorite knitting passions right now!  Craftsy also has some great deals in their yarn store!

I love hiking up the mountain!

I love to see nature up close and personal!  Our favorite hike is just a couple of miles up the canyon road from our house.  How lucky is that?

Craftsy has extended their class sale until Monday the 22nd of July!  And ALL classes are on sale! What a great deal!

WIP Wednesday

This week's knitting

Changed to a new pattern

And then just knit on some dish cloths!

I changed plans on the sweater for my daughter.  Vine lace is not going to happen.  But LaBelle is going to happen!  So instead of casting on the sweater, I just knit some more dish cloths.  Nice and easy relaxing knitting.

I am reading Artisan Bread in 5 Minutes a Day.  Nice idea for fresh bread every day and no kneading.  You make up a batch of dough and cut off a chunk every day to bake fresh bread.

This is my WIP Wed, KCCO and Yarn Along for the week.

Way Behind Wednesday

Summer Mystery Shawl

Dishcloths and cozy

Love the colors in this yarn!
I am making good progress on my Summer Mystery Shawl!  I am halfway through the 2nd clue and the 3rd came out on Saturday.  Since I started it a bit late, that isn't too far behind.  I still haven't gotten around to blocking the Anniversary Shawl. I will wait until I have both of these knit and then do a blocking marathon.

Since we went out of town for the 4th of July, I got a lot of car knitting done.  That is my dishcloth knitting time.  I have another batch of patterns ready to write up into a PDF.  And I also finished knitting a fourth Coffee Press Cozy, so those also need to be written up.  Since those don't have a deadline, I need to put them off for a bit. I have a few deadlines this week for my quilting adventures.

Yesterday one of the blogs I follow about Beer in Utah had this post about a fundraiser for ALS research.  My brother was an excellent homebrewer.  He was also a certified beer judge. He died of ALS.  I am pleased to see a fundraiser put on by breweries across the country.  Go to this link to find a location near you!

Blocking blues

I finished the knitting on my Mystery Shawl!  Still need to get the blocking done. I don't know why I can't just block right after the bind off, it is one of those things that are easy to put off until tomorrow, repeat several times to get it right!

So instead of restarting the Vine Lace Cardigan for my daughter, I had to go an d cast on yet another Mystery Shawl!  I just love the Mysteries by Goddess Knits!  Both of these shawl patterns were designed by her.  Very well written charts and clear instructions.

This is my WIP Weds, Yarn Along and KCCO for this week. Have Happy 4th of July!
