Warm Wednesday

Still on an apple binge
I am still making apples. Fun crochet! I am also still on my chick lit book. I have only about a chapter left, but fell asleep while reading last night.

I have also been crocheting coasters that are available in my Etsy shop. I had found a fun Christmas colored variegated yarn and thought it would work up well for Holiday coasters.

Karen's Holiday decorations
Today was knitting group at Karen's house. She had her house decked out with all kinds of greenery! So festive!

I am hosting a giveaway on my quilting blog this week.

This is my Yarn along and KCCO post for the week.

Winter is coming Wednesday

bowl of apples

I got a bunch of apples done! They are so much fun! I need to take a break from them for a while, but I hope to fill the bowl.

I started a mini poncho for the granddaughter. It will match her mom's poncho that I knit earlier this year.
I am reading more chick lit. Seems to be my vice this year.

This is my KCCO and Yarn Along post for this week.

Still on the crochet binge!

I am still reading Beautiful Day. More of a summer read, but I enjoy her writing.

A couple of years ago I saw this Cream and Sugar pattern for apple place card holders. As it was right before Thanksgiving I decided it would be fun for the kids and grands to dress up our table a bit.(we are pretty casual) Anyway, I bought yarn and started to crochet one. Sweetie made sport of the idea so I tossed it in the corner. Now that I am on this crochet binge, I decided to revive the project. I restarted the first one since I had no idea what round I was on and I wasn't that far into the project. Hopefully they will turn out as cute as the photograph on the pattern.

Reusable Gift Bags
I finished all four of the gift bags. I love the pooling on the last one! You never know what you are going to get with variegated yarn.

I wanted to make some coasters, so I decided to try granny squares. The larger square is intended for a bottle coaster.

Gift Bagging

I am still hooking away at gift bags! I am trying to make a set for my son and his family. The camo one is a bit smaller, the yarn ran out. But that is ok. Fun, easy, crochet project!

I finally finished my trashy library books. I started on Beautiful Day bye Elin Hildebrand. A story of sisters and a wedding.

Pooling into stripes

Variegated stripes.
I love how the different color ways of the cotton variegated yarn will stripe! I love watching the design emerge.

Red rock in Kanab
Sweetie and I went down to Kanab for a quick weekend getaway. I love the red rock of southern Utah!

This is my KCCO and Yarn Along post for this week.

Yesterday was election day here in the USA. And the results are in. It is not going to be a good thing. Oh well. I voted, so I can complain all I want.

I am still putting off the languishing sweater. I started another reusable gift bag. Fun, easy crochet.

My read this week is Inspired by the Beatles an art quilt challenge! I finally got my copy of this book last Thursday. I have a quilt featured in the book, Twist and Shout!

Twist and Shout
What a thrill! The entire collection of the Beatles quilts debuted at the International quilt show in Houston last week!

Dishy Wednesday!

Dish rags galore!
I still can't get myself to pick up the languishing sweater. I will try to work on it tonight. I think it just takes a bit to find where I left off and usually I am too tired to figure that out. I knit in the evenings while watching TV. Still on the last of the 3 trashy novels from the library, I will move on to something better after this one.

My Prayer flags
My friend, Lisa, came down to our quilt guild and gave a lecture on Prayer Flags. It was wonderful! I sewed my mini swap blocks into flags and have them hanging on my back fence. I am putting the message of Friendship out into the world.

Old milk can
We have a lot of "yard art" in our backyard. Most of it is rusty junk we have collected over the years. My sweetie bought this for me at a yard sale many years ago. Someone had painted it and after all these years in the weather the paint is peeling off. I love the way it looks!

Knitting progress

I was able to finish the knitting on my scarf. The pattern calls for it to be blocked first and then grafted. So it goes into the blocking pile.

Knitting is finished.
I am still on the paperback romance binge. Another light, easy read that I will forget as soon as I start the next book.

Instead of working on the languishing sweater I just pulled out my handy, dandy cone of dishcloth yarn and started another one. They are simple, mindless knits. And make great "little something" gifts to have on hand. My version of this pattern is available here for free.

Two Shawls
So this is the blocking pile (well, what I could find). Two shawls that need blocked. I bet they will be gorgeous! I think I have a couple of cowls that need blocked as well. I usually have a blocking marathon, needs to happen soon.

This is my KCCO and Yarnalong post for this week.

Where have I been?

Urban Lace

I haven't knit much in the last 2 months. Finally started a scarf. Fun easy knit! I love the colors of this yarn, it feels like fall!

I have been reading a bunch of trash novels.  Simple easy reads that you forget as soon as you start the next one. Maybe up next will be a heavier read.  We will see.

I am linking to WIP, KCCO and yarn along.

Wimpy Wednesday

I am finally knitting on that darn sweater! It really isn't so bad, but the instructions aren't easy to read. I am reading the third in a quilting group series. It is okay.

Sweater Close-up
As I was putting off knitting the sweater, I messed around with my crochet hook and some cotton dishcloth yarn. I was trying to make some coasters. My first attempt curled, but then I figured out is it the exact size to cup around a beer bottle!

Coaster in action

Where did July go?

For fun I have been crocheting a bit. I am on the third of a set of three reusable gift bags. Fun project, crochet was my very first craft.

Finally finished the Anniversary shawl
I finished the Anniversary shawl!  It still needs to be blocked.  Note below how much yarn was leftover! I am so glad to have a tiny bit left rather than being a tiny bit short!

The dreaded sweater
I am now going to get back to the sweater for my daughter. I was making good progress last summer, set it down and it got hidden away. Looking over the pattern I realize why I set it aside. The pattern is not easy to understand. I just started the bind off section for the armholes.  Hopefully, I can get it going tonight.

This is my WIP weds and KCCO post for the week.

I can't believe that it is already July!

It is stage 4 of the Tour De Sock!  I sat out stage 3 and was glad that I did. It was nice to take a rest. Yesterday we got the next pattern. They are "walk aways". Which means the focus of the design is on the back of the leg and down the heel. The socks are intended to be worn in sandals so that the design is visible when you walk away!  There are some beads in the design, I don't mind working with beads.  I think it will be a lovely pair of socks.

Time for summer reading!  I love Chick Lit in the summer. I just started "The Last Original Wife".

I was knitting away on the Anniversary Shawl while waiting for the next stage. I had hoped to finish, but I have 5 more rows left and the bind off. I am worried that I am going to run out of yarn. It is going to be close.

This is my WIP Weds, KCCO and Yarn Along post for this week.  Happy 4th of July!

I am still plugging along on my Anniversary Shawl in between stages of the Tour De Sock. I am almost finished with clue #4. Clue #5 is the last one and is only 20 rows long. But since this grows every row, it takes quite a bit of time to knit one row now.
I love the title of my current read, "When in Doubt Add Butter"!  So far it is a fun, light summer read.

I knit a grocery bag.  For some reason the needles that I was using made it difficult to knit. The yarn did not slide easily. I will have to try it with a larger needle and see if I have better luck.

I completed my second stage Tour De Sock socks! I spent last week up at the lake and didn't have access to wifi until Friday. So even though I did finish 12 hours too late, I would not have been able to post a photograph in time to score points. I didn't bring extra yarn for the next stage, so I decided to sit it out. It is colorwork and I am not that skilled with knitting colorwork on a sock.  So I will concentrate on my shawl and then hop back into the race at stage four.

Still Racing

Start of the Stage Two sock
This is the pattern for the second stage of Tour-de-Sock! I  am liking it so far. I chose this kettle dyed green yarn to knit my socks.

I am reading a new book, it is a memoir about an Ebay seller and his pursuit of the famous handbag to sell in his ebay shop.

Close up

Joy's Sock

Karen's sock

Yesterday was knitting at Karen's. Both she and Joy were working on socks!

And I completed my first stage socks on time! So I was able to score points for my team!

Wednesday's race

My Tour-de-sock project for stage one is coming along nicely. I am almost done with one sock. It was a bit complicated in the instructions for the last section and I was very tired last night, so I cast on the second sock. This morning I was able to spread out the instructions and figure out how the last section works, so knit a few rows to get the hang of it. I have until the 10th to finish to earn points, I think I can make it!

I am still reading about Pioneer Woman.  I like the way she writes, so I have enjoyed this book.

How I keep track of the cable needle when not in use

Before the TDS race started, I was still knitting away on the anniversary shawl. I got started on clue#4.I really like this pattern! It will be a great project to knit between the race stages.

This is my Wip Wednesday, KCCO and Yarn Along for this week.

I have a ton of new stuff in my Etsy Craft books, magazines and patterns! I have a coupon code for my blog readers LHBLOG10 good for 10% off any purchase over $10! Good for anything in the shop.

Thanks for your support!

Is May really almost over Wednesday?

Up the Mountain
On Sunday morning we took an ATV ride up New Canyon. It was a beautiful day to do a ride! I skillfully missed the snow just to the left of the above scene. We had to turn around just after this spot because the snow was too deep on the road. This spot is maybe 10 miles away from my house!

Still working on the Anniversary Shawl
I am still on Clue #3 of the Anniversary Shawl. Every other row increases by 8 stitches and so it takes longer and longer as you go along. I love the way the colors play in the yarn.  I am now reading the story of how The Pioneer Woman  met and married her Marlboro Man. It is a fun read, she has a fun sense of humor.

Possible choices for Tour de Sock
This is the second year that I am participating in Tour de Sock. It is a fun sock knitting race that is a fund raiser for charity. It starts on June 1st, so there is still time to sign up if you are interested. Even if you don't want to race, you get 6 patterns for $7.50 which is a donation to a charity.

WIP Wednesday

Anniversary Shawl
I have been working on this shawl for a couple of weeks. It was a mystery and the last clue came out on Saturday. I am a bit behind, just started clue #3 last night.

I have been reading some murder mysteries lately. This series is fun, involves a parrot in a gift shop.

Problem child
This shawl is going to be lovely! But I made a mistake and I think I might have to just start over, it might be faster than tinking back 6 rows of lace. I will decide after I complete the other shawl.

This is my WIP Wednesday, KCCO and Yarn Along post for this week.
